Over the years, I've heard debates about the question--is management a sub-set of leadership or is leadership a sub-set of management? There are valid arguments in favor of one or the other.
Me, I think leadership is a part of management and not vice-versa. Management is the art of doing things thru other people; and one way of achieving that is having the traits that contribute to good leadership.
