In our continuing efforts to increase the traffic of our authors’ articles, we have come up with a new traffic enhancement strategy using the hugely-popular networking site, facebook.

If you will visit our site, you will notice that we have recently added in all the pages the Facebook “like” button. Now, any of our thousands of daily site guests who have facebook accounts can click the “like” button and automatically a link to the article page they clicked on will appear in their facebook wall. That article link will be seen by their FB friends and it is logical to assume that some of them will be curious enough to click the link to that article.

Here’s how you can further maximize the benefit of this strategy to increase traffic to your own articles in our directory:

1. Open a Facebook account (if you already have one, then there’s no need to do this)

2. Everyday, one at a time, link to your articles from your facebook wall. That way, all your facebook friends will notice the existence of your articles. See samples of how I do it here: www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=688250947

3. Another way to do it is to go to one of your article pages at www.bestmanagementarticles.com. (I'll show you a fast and convenient way of doing it below). Click the facebook “like” button after the article and then write something in the comment box, like, “Hey guys, what do you think about this?”, or whatever it is that you think will attract the reader's attention.

4. Invite your friends to visit your articles and egg them to click the facebook “like” button and write something in the comment box.

5. Here's how to locate your articles at bestmanagementarticles.com. Click here: www.bestmanagementarticles.com/ListAuthors.aspx. Then search for your name.

Wishing you more success in your internet marketing ventures.

Ismael D. The intellect and leadership of the US Treasury Secretary and Fed Chairman? The collective intellect and leadership of the USA in the world?

Now the glass has been shattered—their warped ideas of intellect and leadership, and the hubris and arrogance that went with them, have caused them and the rest of the world untold financial misery never before experienced since the Great Depression of the 1920s-30s.

These high-sounding words—intellect and leadership—cannot stand on their own; they need to be qualified. Intellectual dishonesty should not be acceptable. Leadership that’s not anchored on old-fashioned values should not be acceptable.

The underlying cause of the US-led crisis is so complex that even the best economists of the USA failed to notice the breaking point. But one thing is clear: the intellect of the top government and business executives of that country was tainted with unbridled greed for personal gain and look where it brought us to.

Now more than ever, we should demand principled leadership from people who pretend to be our leaders—in government, in business, in all organizations.

A principled leader’s point of view has to have three levels, arranged in their levels of hierarchy: (1) what’s good for the country, (2) what’s good for his organization, and (3) what’s good for him and his family.

It is but natural for a person to think of how to improve his personal situation. We all work hard so we could get promoted, we could earn more, we could be recognized and applauded, and so on. In our pursuit of such personal improvement, we have to address and support the needs of the organization we work for on the basic premise that if we can help push up the organization it will pull us up in return.

In the private sector, the overwhelming objective of business enterprises is profitability. The main concern of business leaders is the optimum return on investment of the company’s shareholders.

It is in the pursuit of profits where ordinary leaders are differentiated from principled leaders. A principled leader has the country’s good as higher in hierarchy than the company’s profits. Sure, we can argue that it is not the business sector’s responsibility to run the country; it is the government’s. But at the very least, no business objective or strategy should contribute to the country’s misery.

Clearly, the leaders of the fallen financial institutions in the USA pursued profits so relentlessly for their companies and for themselves that they didn’t care how negatively those acts impacted their country and the world. The same can be said of the milk manufacturers in China who used carelessly melamine in their products to improve their profitability. The same of the corrupt government leaders in the Philippines who openly rob the country while the vast majority of the population wallow in poverty.

Principled leadership is all about having the right values and principles, providing benefit to the organization and serving the community and the country. It is all about earning the trust and respect of your constituents as a result of your character, competence and commitment.

Principled leadership--how I wish and pray that it becomes a fad again soon.
---------------------
The writer is the publisher of www.bestmanagementarticles.com, a free article directory featuring tips, ideas and bits of advice to manage your business successfully.

Managing Stress

The world of today is a stressful environment to live in. Terrorism, economic hardships, political turmoil, rampant graft and corruption in all levels of government, and the drug menace that we parents are so worried could possibly—God forbid—engulf our own children, are just some of the things that contribute to our daily stress.

Then there are the seemingly small stress builders. The chaotic traffic that we have to contend with daily when we travel to and fro our working place. The undisciplined driver who stops in the middle of the road to pick up or drop passengers, blocking our way and making us wait unnecessarily even as we are rushing to an appointment. Feel free to add your daily woes.

So how does one manage stress?

The hands-down best stress management strategy for me is summed up by this quotation: “The difference between a good day and a bad day is your attitude”.

Most of the stress-inducing things in our life—financial difficulties, traffic, job deadlines, to name just a few--are beyond our control. We can’t change them even if we cry the whole day. To lessen their stressful effect on us is to change our attitude towards them, instead.

The daily traffic gets into your nerves because you often arrive late in the office? Cultivate the habit of leaving home earlier. Totally forget about the traffic, enjoy the ride and you will arrive punctually—because you left earlier.

The power fails while you are rushing a report in your PC. Will cursing, kicking your desk and banging your head on the wall bring back the power?

Over the decades, I’ve had this personal policy: “Don’t allow other people to dictate how you act or behave.” If a rude government functionary destroys your mood the whole day, she just dictated how you act. If the loud voice of your office mate disturbs you and lessens your efficiency, he just dictated how you act.

Then there’s the story that goes…

One day a professor arrives in class with 1-kilogram dumb bell. He asks one of the students to come in front and gives him the dumb bell.

“Is that heavy?”

“No”

“Okay bring up your arm at your shoulder level, arms stretched fully. Is that heavy?”

“Not really.”

Then the professor proceeded to give his usual lecture to the class. After about 15 minutes, he goes back to the student and asked, “Is that heavier?”

“Yeah, but it’s okay.”

The professor again went back to the lecture. Before the end of the one-hour class, the student interrupted, “Sir this is too heavy now, can I bring my hand down?”

What’s the lesson in this story? We all have things or events that cause us stress. Never allow them to build up or stay in your life for long. Sooner or later, they will become too heavy to bear. You need to confront that which causes you stress. If it’s something you can solve, then solve it fast; even if the medicine is bitter. If it’s something beyond your capability to solve e.g., the daily traffic, your rude office mate, your lousy boss, terrorism, government corruption, etc., then just ignore it, don’t carry it as a stress load, and move on with your life.

Anger Management: Another View

These are days when people get angry fast. It’s as if anywhere you go, any time of day, any day of the month, there’s reason to be angry.

You wake up early in the morning, open the TV to the day’s news and you get stressed by all the bad news—unbelievable government corruption, economic crisis, bombings worldwide, unabated and unsolved killings, droughts, floods, earthquakes, tsunamis, legislators wasting their time, and the citizens’, destroying each other—can it get any worse?

You drive to work and get mad at drivers who drive like crazy, causing you driving stress. You start to work and get stressed by inefficient staff, abrasive customers or too demanding boss.

At the end of the day, you pass by the supermarket to buy some food and groceries and watch with bated breath as the numbers in the cashiering machine build up to levels you’ve never seen before, with the same or even less quantity of goods. The only consolation is that you don’t have to pay them with cash because of the proliferation of credit cards. But wait till you receive the monthly bill and your blood pressure shoots up.

How do you deal with this? Do you allow yourself to get angry at each and every problem, big or small, that comes your way? Don’t.

Many literatures discuss about anger management in myriad complex ways. They analyze what anger is in depth and end up with analysis paralysis. Here are simple ways that you can avoid getting angry when an unpleasant event occurs.

1. Avoid an instant reaction, usually in the form of an angry outburst. Drink water slowly, savoring the drinking process. Water soothes the nerves and if you can spend at least 30 seconds drinking, your anger would be largely gone by the time you finish drinking.

2. If you are not anywhere near a water source, count to 10 before reacting. The counting should be deliberate and not hurried. If you are still raging mad by then, extend it to 20. The important thing is to give yourself time to cool down and think more rationally.

3. Walk away from that event that is causing you to get angry. There’s absolutely no sense in getting into a fight. You could get hurt or you could hurt somebody. Either way, it’s not worth the effort and the physical and emotional damages.

I’ve quoted it before, I’ll quote it again: “The difference between a good day and a bad day is your attitude.” If you allow an event to make you angry, it’s your decision. If you don’t allow it to make you angry, it’s your decision, too. The choice is ultimately yours.

Ethics in business emails

One of the latest marketing medium is the internet. Having read many literatures that dwell extensively on leadership, I was struck by Drucker’s statement: there are no such things as “leadership personality”, “leadership style”, or “leadership traits”.

Let me summarize his thesis with a few of my own thoughts interspersed here and there.

In decades of studying numerous successful managers, executives and business people, Drucker didn’t find a single personality, style or trait that is absolutely common among recognized successful leaders.

Some locked themselves in the office most of the time; the others were ultra-gregarious. Some were “nice guys”; the others some were strict disciplinarians. Some were quick and impulsive in making decisions and actions; the others took almost forever to study and analyze before acting.

Some were warm and friendly; the others were aloof. Some were good listeners; the others were loners. Some were charismatic but the others were not.

Some were ultra-vain, like Gen. Douglas McArthur, and some were self-effacing like, Pres. Harry Truman. But these personal traits did not get in the way of their being great leaders.

But despite the absence of a universal trait, style and personality of great leaders, they had a commonality in what they know define what leaders are and their idea of what leaders do.

What real leaders are (or are not):

1.	Leaders have followers—by reason of their personality or ideas or espoused causes or a myriad other reasons. There is no leader who has no followers.

2.	Managers and executives are not necessarily leaders. Subordinates are not necessarily followers.

3.	Leaders are not necessarily people who are loved or admired. Popularity is not leadership--results are.

4.	Leaders are highly visible and their examples are closely observed and followed.

5.	Leadership is not a rank or privilege—it is a responsibility.

What leaders do:

1.	Leaders internalize what their organization’s goals & objectives are. They know what the performance standards and criteria are.

2.	They ask themselves, “What NEEDS to be done?” instead of, “What do I WANT done?”

3.	They ask further, “What can and should I do to attain that which needs to be done?”

4.	They don’t mind diversity in their followers’ personality, traits and style. What they concentrate on are their performance, standards and values.

5.	They don’t get afraid of their follower’s and associates’ strengths. They use those strengths instead to further their causes. Many great leaders became so because they knew how to recruit good performers, even better than they are.

6.	Leaders are DOERS. They are on the front line--where the action is. A leader can’t just come out with a plan of action and then give it to his followers for implementation as he stands back to watch the action. Napoleon Bonaparte and Genghis Khan were always there with their men – sacrificing and risking life--when they were conquering the world.

Sure, leaders must know how to delegate some work; otherwise they will be buried in too much trivia. However, those work that will set the standards, that will make a difference, that will make them remembered for, they do it themselves.

The bottom line of it all is that leadership can and must be learned. Contrary to other management gurus’ teachings, you don’t need to kill yourself trying to change to a “typical leadership personality and style”. That’s the unnatural, and extremely difficult, way. Just do what successful leaders must do with your present personality and style– and you’re on the way to that distinction of being a good leader.

Ismael D. Tabije
http://leadership.bestmanagementarticles.com/
in reference to: Leadership - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (view on Google Sidewiki)

Relationship as an advertising strategy

One of the buzz words in today's business is relationship--developing relationship with your customers.
1. Open a Facebook account (if you already have one, then there’s no need to do this)

2. Everyday, one at a time, link to your articles from your Facebook wall. That way, all your facebook friends will notice the existence of your articles. How? Go to one of your article pages at www.bestmanagementarticles.com. (I'll show you a fast and convenient way of doing it below). Highlight the URL of that page and copy. Now, go to your Facebook wall and click “link”. A box will pop up—paste the URL there. Click “share”. Your article is now viewable by all your FB friends.

3. Here’s another way: while you’re in the page where your article is published, click the Facebook “like” button after the article. Then write something in the comment box, like, “Hey guys, what do you think about this?”, or whatever it is that you think will attract the reader's attention. Now, your article is also viewable by all your FB friends.

4. Invite your friends to visit your articles and, in like manner, request them to click the
Facebook “like” button and write something in the comment box.

5. Here's how to locate your articles at bestmanagementarticles.com. Click here: List of Authors. Then search for your name.

B. PINGING as a tool for traffic generation

1. Go to your article page(s) again.

2. At the header area , look for “Ping this!” and click.

3. Follow the instructions and you’re done in a minute.

4. Go to your next article and do the same routine.

5. This pinging action will automatically notify many social bookmarking sites of the presence of your article, such as, Twitter, Facebook, Plurk, Myspace, LinkedIn, Tumblr, Identi.ca, Jaiku, Blogger, LiveJournal, Bebo, Hi5, Mashable, Xanga, Friendster, Delicio.us, Diigo, Multiply, Flicker, Yahoo Profiles, Tagged and more. (You'll need to apply for membership in those sites. It will be a bit time consuming at the start; but you only need to do it once)

6. Result: the pagerank of your article page will increase and the likelihood of more guests visiting your article is greatly enhanced.

Here’s wishing you more success in your article marketing efforts.

All the best,

Ismael Tabije
Publisher
www.BestManagementArticles.com

Back to BMA home page

Authors: How to find your articles at BestManagementArticles.com

1. The topic of the article is not related to business management.

2. Too many grammatical errors.

3. There is insufficient information in the author biography box to give us a glimpse of the author's background. This is the most common reason for rejection, especially for the numerous applicants coming from India.

Putting such simplistic statements in the biography box as "I'm a professional writer", "I have an MBA", "I'm a friendly guy" and such will simply waste your time and ours. You won't get approved.

We are selective in our choice of authors--you need to give us your track record, your credentials, to prove to us that you are deserving to be published.

2. The biography box contains a description of the company, instead of the author. Please take note, the biography box in the application process is not the same as the author resource box in the article page. The biography box should describe the author, not the company. Check out this sample biography.

On the other hand, the author resource box at the end of each article is where you are allowed to advertise your product or website.

3. The name as appearing in the personal information is not the same as the name appearing in the biography box.

4. The address of the applicant is incomplete.

5. The content of the biography box is so awkwardly written or with a lot of grammatical errors. This makes us conclude that you are not a good writer. If you can't even write a good autobiography, why should we think that you can write a good article?

6. The location of the IP address of the applicant is different from his/her stated location. (Many times we have encountered applicants who stated that they are from the USA but their IP addresses are from India, Malaysia, China and elsewhere! Yes, we do go to this extent of background checking to ensure the prestige of our article directory.)

Back to bestmanagementarticles.com

Forex: the wise investment when the financial markets look gloomy

Back to BestManagementArticles.com

The outlook these days for the financial markets is pretty gloomy. It is one of the fastest growing industries on the net and it is quite convenient in that you can do it from your computer at home. It’s a massive industry with 3 trillion dollars being transacted every day – that makes it about 40 times larger than the NASDAQ. And the great thing is that anyone can participate, without having to go through a broker and pay commissions. All you need is access to the internet.

In fact, the unpredictability of today’s markets is what makes Forex attractive to some investors right now. The advantage of Forex is that you have the possibility to make money whether a particular currency is going up or going down. And the enormous size of the markets means there is always a buyer and a seller (so you are never stuck with a currency you can’t move, unlike with some stocks).

There are several online trading platforms to choose from. I’ve found Easy-Forex to be an excellent and reputable company that is fully regulated with offices around the world. You will particularly value the personal service you get from them – especially the free one-one-one training. They have an easy to use trading site and have great features that help you manage your risk. They also have this cool new tool which no one else in the market has. They call it ‘the inside viewer’ and it shows you the popularity of currencies being bought and sold on their platform.

Please be aware, though, that Forex has a certain degree of risk and you should never risk more than you are prepared to lose.

Go straight to their site now, sign up, deposit and you’ll get a free eBook guide on how to trade Forex: www.easy-forex.com.

Ismael D.
